Yesterday Sony PS3 owners can not log into PSN any longer and also experienced offline gaming issues. The new creation of slim Sony PS3 consoles (120GB and 250GB) are not affected, which makes the trouble pretty mysterious.

There is still no fix offered. The official Sony Playstation Blogacknowledged the issue and refers to Sony PS3 Twitter : http://twitter.com/sonyplaystation for the latest updates. The Sony PS3 support page indicates that there is no issue with PSN. I would expect a bit more urgency and information from Sony about this situation. Examiner reports that a fix is supposed to be available this morning.
clock issue to blame?
Trouble is a foot with the first throughout third generation of PS3 consoles – fundamentally all of them bar the newest PS3 Slim – as what appears to be a date-related issue blocks access to the PlayStation Network.
